English to be made compulsory in new Education Policy

Pakistan: Federal Education Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani has declared that the new Education Policy will be announced on Pakistan Day, March 23rd, 2009, introducing revolutionary changes aimed at raising the standard of education, notes the Daily Mail.

He did not divulge details of the new policy but remarked that teaching of English would be made compulsory along with Urdu for all educational institutions from class one. He, however, clarified that this does not mean less importance to Urdu language which is understood and spoken in our multi lingual society.
