English spelling: hard to learn, full of oddities and a glorious portal to history
United Kingdom: There is no point in pretending that English spelling is easy. When a child spells “athiest” - a common error - it is not enough to correct it. It is a chance to trace from theos a link to theology, theocracy,and pantheism. Isn’t that just wonderful.
