Pakistan: 37 English Language Teachers Trained

The Federal College of Education of the Ministry of Education has trained as many as 37 (!) English language teachers of Islamabad Capital Territory. The programme focused on techniques and principles of language teaching, study skills, teaching of English language through computers, development of lesson plans to make them more efficient in English language teaching at school-level in line with market’s requirements.

Malaysia: Exposed to Literature

Primary school pupils are already being exposed to literary texts in English, said an Education Ministry official, clarifying news reports that literature would be introduced in primary schools.

Curriculum Development Centre director Ali Ab Ghani said that the Primary Literature Project was introduced in the school curriculum to strengthen pupils’ proficiency in English five years ago, ‘We came up with a three-prong strategy to support primary school pupils during the implementation of the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English in 2003,’ he gloated.
