Australia: Language test blamed for skills shortage

Noneother than a Glenroy bricklayer says that a skills shortage has left him short-staffed, with his plans to recruit overseas workers thwarted by overly stringent English tests. Haydar Cakir, 29, said the national shortage of bricklayers federally recognised as an occupation in-demand had made it nearly impossible to recruit staff in Victoria.
