No, you haven’t misread the title. David has been teaching English for the last 8 years in the Centre d’étude des langues in the Châteauroux Chambre de Commerce et d’industrie (CCI). A former primary school teacher, he left England for a number of reasons. “What I didn’t like was the increasing pressure being put on both teachers and pupils to get good results,” he says, “children are no longer experiencing any fun in learning and I think that’s sad.”

French education minister finally admits defeat in battle against the English language

For generations, the French have fiercely guarded their language against the horreurs anglais. But France’s education minister yesterday admitted for the first time that the secret to success is speaking better English. Xavier Darcos claimed poor English is now a ‘handicap’ because all international business is conducted in the language, and said French schools would offer extra lessons during the holidays.

Le Prof Gets Inspected

M. Le Prof D’Anglais has been ‘inspected‘. Here’s what happened:

“Your English accent is really good” (really?), “the kids obviously respect you” (because you were there and I’m bribing them) “it was a good lesson, you pass” (yyeeessss!!!) “and I’ll raise your teaching grade so you’ll go through the salary scale more quickly” (ker-ching!).
